Our Island,
Dutungan Island is of volcanic origin, this island is oval shaped area and is about 9 hectares wide, so it takes only a short stroll to see its complete coastline. The coral reef surrounds Dutungan so that in the sea lives innumerable varieties of coloured reef fishes. Beautiful coral reefs are easily accessible from the shore of Dutungan. Around Dutungan are reefs with step drop-offs and caves, excellent for diving. Years ago, during the Japanese occupation, Japanese soldiers had made a shelter in the rocky part of the island, and it still maintained until now. The Dutungan Island offers good snorkelling and diving sites. The sea is sheltered and completely free from waves in order to facilitate the practice of water sports.

It is 130 kilometers or 2,5 hours by car to the north from Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, and 100 Kilometers to the north from Hasanuddin International Airport. Just fly from Jakarta or Denpasar, Bali to Makassar....and you won't miss it. The island is 10 minutes away off the cost of Barru Provence, South Sulawesi; it can be reached by using the boat.

For both divers and non-divers this place offers an excellent opportunity for spending some relaxed days in a quiet natural setting. There are rooms and cottages available to rent on the island. Sometimes you even can rent a whole island. Traditional meals are available in this resort. The Bar, Restaurant Lounge is an open plan setting. You can find a nice coconut delight or simply soft drinks at the Restaurant. All the buildings, except the kitchen and the private house are wooden made and covered by roofs made of palm leaves. Fresh water is available on the island. And grills your fresh catch on the white beach after wondering the sea garden in surrounding.
